What should I do in the case of Withdrawing Fellowship?

What should I do in the case of Withdrawing Fellowship?

What should I do in the case of Withdrawing Fellowship?

The Bible teaches at least these eight ways:

1. Turn away from that person.

17Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. 18For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. (Romans 16:17,18)

2. Keep away from that person.

6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradtion which you received from us. (II Thessalonians 3:6)

3. Do not receive that person into your house.

9 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house... (II John 1:9-11)

4. Do not give that person a greeting.

10...and do not give him a greeting; 11for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds. (II John 1:9-11)

5. Do not associate with that person.

14If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame. (II Thessalonians 3:14)

6. Do not eat with that person.

11But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person —not even to eat with such a one. (I Corinthians 5:11)

7. Pay attention to your teaching.

16Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you. (I Timothy 4:16)

8. Admonish that person as a brother.

15Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. (II Thessalonians 3:15)
